2 Number of parolees
Fig. 2-5-1-1 shows the number of released inmates (limited to those who were released from penal institutions on parole or completion of their term of imprisonment) and the parole rate since 1949. The parole rate was on a declining trend from 2005 and reached 49.2% in 2009. By gender it was 47.5% (down 0.8 points from the previous year) for males and 70.9% (down 1.5 points (id.)) for females (Source: Annual Report of Statistics on Correction).
