5 Violations of the Public Offices Election Act

  Table 1-2-2-5 shows the number of persons newly received by public prosecutors offices for violations of the Public Offices Election Act (Act No. 100 of 1950) over the last 10 years (See Appendix 1-4).

  Examining the number of persons referred in 2008 (388 persons) by type of violation revealed that “bribery, inducements by interested parties” accounted for the majority at 362 (93.3%). Others included “violation of restrictions on donations” with seven persons (1.8%) and “violation of restrictions on documents and drawings” with five (1.3%) (Source: Criminal Statistics by National Police Agency).
