This section compares the total participants and drug offenders, by male/female, to clarify the characteristic trends of female drug offenders.
Table 7-3-3-1 shows the age, category of punishment, term of sentence, number of times imprisoned to penal institutions, etc. for drug offenders.

Fig. 7-3-3-2 shows the experience of abuse as inflictor and/or victim with spouse (including common-law marriage, estranged spouse and ex-spouse) or partner, by male/female. Among female inmates, drug offenders were more likely to have been victimized by their spouse/partner.
The percentages of female drug offenders who had experienced self-injurious behavior is 64.3% and that of male offenders is 54.2%.
These percentages suggest that many female drug offenders had experienced victimization and other problems that led to various difficulties in their lives.
