The number of Japanese nationals that left Japan increased by 2.1% from the previous year to 16,994,200 in 2011 (Source: The Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Justice).
Examining the status of offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside of Japan, as ascertained by diplomatic establishments abroad through their Japanese citizen protection services, revealed that 437 cases (down 17.4% from the previous year) were committed by 465 Japanese nationals (down 19.7% (id.)) in 2011.
