White paper on crime 2011 Part2/Chapter3/Section1
Table 2-3-1-1 shows the number of persons finally judged by type of judgment since 1999. The number continued to decrease every year from 2000, and was 473,226 in 2010 (down 6.0% from the previous year), and a decrease of approximately 50% over the last 10 years. That decrease was largely due to a decrease in number of persons finally judged for violations of road traffic related acts. The number of persons finally judged as not guilty was 86 in 2010, accounting for 0.02% of the total number of persons finally judged.
