The number of Japanese nationals that left Japan increased by 7.7% from the previous year to 16,637,224 in 2010 (Source: The Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Justice).
Examining the status of offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside of Japan, as ascertained by diplomatic establishments abroad through their Japanese citizen protection services, revealed that 529 cases (up 5.6% from the previous year) were committed by 579 Japanese nationals (up 4.3% (id.)) in 2010. Table 1-5-1-1 shows the number of cases committed by Japanese nationals outside of Japan by type of offense in 2010.
