Table 2-5-1-3 shows the number of life imprisonment inmates granted parole by served term of imprisonment over the last 10 years. The number of life imprisonment inmates that served a term of imprisonment of 20 years or less and were granted parole was quite large at 56 in 1981, but only nine in 1989, three in 1999, and has been zero since 2003 (Source: Annual Report of Statistics on Rehabilitation).
