Section 3  Pre-delinquents

  Fig. 4-1-3-1 shows the number of juveniles finally disposed by family courts for pre-delinquency and the female rate in pre-delinquents since 1969 (See Appendix 4-7).
  The number of juveniles finally disposed by family courts for pre-delinquency was over 3,000 in early 1980s, but then it decreased, and the number has generally been less than 1,000 since 1994. In 2007, the number was on a range of 600 as was in the previous year.
  By type of pre-delinquency, running away from home has continuously accounted for the largest share, and was 18.8% (125 juveniles) in 2007.
  The female rate has generally been on the range of 50 to 65% since 1976, and in 2007, it was 52.8% (down by 1.8 points from the previous year).
