Section 1  Offenses Committed by Japanese Nationals Outside Japan

  The number of Japanese nationals traveling overseas decreased by 239,630 persons (1.4%) from the previous year to 17,294,935 persons in 2007 (Source: The Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice).
  According to data ascertained by diplomatic establishments abroad through their Japanese citizen protection service in 2007, offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside Japan decreased by 8.9 % to 482 cases, and Japanese nationals offenders also decreased by 6.1% to 567 persons from the previous year.
  Table 1-5-1-1 shows the number of offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside Japan in 2007, by type of offense.
