3 Deportation

  For foreign nationals who violate the Immigration Control Act, such as overstaying illegally in Japan, deportation procedures (including departure order procedures; hereinafter the same in this Chapter) are taken to deport such persons.
  Foreign nationals for whom deportation procedures were taken for Immigration Control Act violations in 2006 were 56,410, a decrease of 762 (1.3%) from the previous year. Reviewing by type of violation, illegal overstay was the largest with 42,829 persons (75.9%), followed by illegal entry with 10,441 persons (18.5%), and engaging in activities outside the permitted scope with 1,736 persons (3.1%) (Source: The Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice).
