3 Robbery

  The number of cases reported for robbery reached 7,664 in 2003, the highest record since 1950, but decreased for three consecutive years to 5,108 in 2006 (down by 880 (14.7%) from the previous year).
  The clearance rate for robbery continued to recover slightly for the second consecutive year (up by 5.3 points (id.)).
  Table 1-1-2-3 shows the numbers of cases reported and cleared, and clearance rate for robbery targeting overnight supermarkets (robbery cases aimed at sales proceeds of convenience stores or supermarkets during their night opening hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., hereinafter the same) over the last 10 years.

  The number of cases reported for robbery targeting overnight supermarkets had increased significantly since 1998, but decreased by 34 (6.1%) from the previous year in 2006. The clearance rate decreased to 49.5% from the previous year (down by 11 points from the previous year).
