3 Imprisonment with or without labor for a limited term

  As shown in Appendix 2-4, among the defendants sentenced to imprisonment with or without labor for a limited term by district courts in 2002, most of them were sentenced to 1 year or more but less than 2 years, accounting for 42.8% of the total, followed by those sentenced to 2 years or more but 3 years or less (28.3%), 6 months or more but less than 1 year (12.7%), and less than 6 months (9.0%). Only 5,304 defendants (7.2%) were sentenced to imprisonment for more than 3 years. Among them, 321 were sentenced to more than 10 years, 179 of which were for homicide and 77 for robbery resulting in death or bodily injury.
