Table 3-1-3-1 shows the trends in the number of victims and the damage rate for rape and indecent assault reported by the police over the last 10 years since 1992. The number of victims and the damage rate for rape per 100,000 females remained almost flat from 1992 to 1996, but took an upward turn in 1997. The number of victims and the damage rate for indecent assault have been sharply increasing in females since 1999. In 2001, the number of victims increased by 1,922 from the previous year to 9,044, and the damage rate was 13.9.
