Halfway houses are institutions that are commissioned, mainly by probation offices, to provide a variety of aids that include accommodation, meals, employment support, living guidance, etc. to probationers/parolees or those to receive urgent aftercare due to their difficulties in becoming independent due to a lack of residence or person to rely on. As of April 1, 2016, there are 103 halfway houses nationwide (Source: The Rehabilitation Bureau, Ministry of Justice).
