3 Child Welfare Act violations, etc.

Fig. 1-2-2-3 shows the number of persons newly received by public prosecutors offices for violations of the Child Welfare Act (Act No. 164 of 1947), the Act against Child Prostitution and Pornography, and the Youth Protection Ordinance over the last 20 years (See Appendix 1-4). The number of persons received for Act against Child Prostitution and Pornography violations has generally been on an increasing trend since enforcement of the said Act in 1999 and increased by 21.4% from the previous year in 2009. The number of persons received for Youth Protection Ordinance violations has also generally been on an increasing trend since 2001 and increased by 1.7% (id.) in 2009.

The number of persons newly received by public prosecutor offices for Internet Dating Site Control Act violations had been on an increasing trend since enforcement of the said Act in 2003. It sharply increased to 154 (up 175.0% from the previous year) in 2008 but then decreased to 108 (down 29.9% from the previous year) in 2009 (See Appendix 1-4).
