Section 2  Homicide

  Table 1-4-2-1 shows the number of reported cases, crime rate and clearance rate for homicide in five countries over the last five years from 2002 to 2006 (see Appendixes 1–8 and 1–9).
  The number of reported cases and crime rate both have remained almost at the same level in all five countries. The clearance rate has been around 95% in Germany and Japan.
  Although an accurate comparison is difficult, as far as the statistical data on homicide in five countries are concerned, the number of reported cases and crime rate in Japan have been below the levels of the other four countries for those five years.
