4 Violations of the Stalker Control Act, etc.

  Fig. 1-2-2-4 shows the number of persons newly received by public prosecutors offices (over the last eight years) for violations of the Stalker Control Act and the Spouse Violence Control Act.

  The numbers of violation of the Anti-Stalking Act and Spouse Violence Control Act have both continued to increase since the enforcement of the said Acts. After decreasing slightly in 2006 from the previous year they started increasing again in 2007 (up by 13.8% and 43.1% respectively from the previous year).
  With regards to the Spouse Violence Control Act, the “Act for Partial Amendment to the Spouse Violence Prevention Act ” (Act No. 113 of 2007) enforced on January 11, 2008 expanded the subject and scope of protection order (violation of this order is subject to penal regulations) and included the issuing of protection orders pertaining to victims of life threatening intimidation, etc., protection orders to prohibit making phone calls to victims, and orders to refrain from approaching victim's relatives, etc.
