1 The average period of parole by type of offense

  Table 7-3-5-1 shows the average period of parole and average term of a sentence by type of offense from 1996 to 2005 using statistical data on persons released from penal institutions.
  In regard to homicide, robbery, arson and rape, for which average parole period is relatively long, the average term of the sentence is also long, while in regard to assault and injury, for which average parole period is relatively short, the average term of the sentence is also short, and hence, to a certain extent at least, the period of parole can be considered to be affected by the length of the term of a sentence.
