Section 4  Damage Caused by Sexual Offenses

  Table 5-1-4-1 shows the number of cases by rape and forcible indecency and their rate per 100,000 people over the last 10 years. The number of victims and rate of rape and female victims of forcible indecency were on an upward trend until 2003, but changed to a downward trend since 2004. The number of cases by rape in 2006 was 1,948 cases (down by 6.2% from the previous year), and that by forcible indecency was 8,140 cases (down by 4.6% (id.)), while their rates were 3.0 (down by 0.2 (id.)) and 12.4 (down by 0.6 (id.)) respectively.
