10 The Act for Partial Amendment to the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act (Act No. 43 of 2006)
This Act, which was promulgated on May 24, 2006, contains the following so as to protect the general public's life and safety (1) foreign nationals (excluding special permanent residents, etc.) shall be required to provide identification information such as fingerprints, etc at the time of immigration checks (to be enforced on a day specified by a Cabinet Order within one and a half years from the day of promulgation); (2) grounds for deportation shall be developed so as to appropriately regulate entry of terrorists (to be enforced on June 13, 2006); and (3) a captain of a vessel, etc. entering Japan shall be required to report matters concerning crew members and passengers in advance (to be enforced on a day specified by a Cabinet Order within one year from the day of promulgation).
