Section 1  Offenses Committed by Japanese Nationals Outside Japan

  The number of Japanese nationals traveling overseas increased by 572,453 persons (3.4%) from the previous year to 17,403,565 persons in 2005 (Source: The Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Justice).
  According to data ascertained by diplomatic establishments abroad through their Japanese citizen protection service in 2005, offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside Japan decreased by 12.0% to 515 cases, and Japanese nationals offenders also decreased by 17.1% to 598 persons from the previous year. Table 1-5-1-1 shows the number of offenses committed by Japanese nationals outside Japan in 2005, by type of offense.
