3 Imprisonment with or without labor for a limited term

  Appendix2-4 shows the number of defendants sentenced to imprisonment with or without labor for a limited term by district courts in2004.
Out of the total number of defendants,41.4%were sentenced to"one year or more but less than two years"which accounted for the most,followed by"two years or more but three years or less"(31.3%),"six months or more but less than one year"(14.9%),"more than three years but five years or less"(4.9%),and"less than six months"(4.4%).There were2,260defendants(2.9%)who were sentenced to imprisonment for more than five years.Out of these defendants,423(an increase of13.7%from the previous year)were sentenced to more than ten years.The breakdown of these defendants according to type of offense was189(6.8%id.)for homicide and118(12.4%id.)for"robbery resulting in death/injury and rape on the occasion of robbery".
