Viewing sentences for determinate sentence imprisonment with or without labor handed down by district and summary courts in 1998, by length of sentence, offenders sentenced to between 1 and 2 years were most numerous with 32,107 (48.4% of the total), followed by those sentenced to between 2 and 3 years (21.7%), between 6 months and 1 year (13.3%), and less than 6 months (11.2%), in that order. Only 3,535 offenders (5.3%) were given sentences of more than 3 years. Of these, 163 (0.2%) were given sentences of more than 10 years. By type of offense, 113 of these were for homicide, and 24 for robbery resulting in death or bodily injury (see Appendix II-4 ).
