Section 2 Final Trial

1 Defendants finally adjudicated by trial

Table II-4 shows the results of adjudication for defendants whose trials were finalized over the last 10 years.
The number of defendants whose trials were finalized in 1999 increased by 14,372 (1.3%) from the previous year. By type of sentence, determinate sentence imprisonment with labor (6.1% of the total), determinate sentence imprisonment without labor (0.2%), life imprisonment with labor (0.004%), and fines (93.2%) all increased from the previous year. Acquittals had fallen to all-time lows in successive years from 1994, but turned to an increase in 1997, and since then they have been more or less on a par. In 1999, there were 59 acquittals (0.005% of the total).
