Halfway houses are institutions that are commissioned, mainly by probation offices, to provide a variety of aids that include accommodation, meals, employment support, living guidance, etc. to probationers/parolees or those to receive urgent aftercare due to their difficulties in becoming independent for the lack of residence or person to rely on. As of April 1, 2015, there are 103 halfway houses nationwide (Source: The Rehabilitation Bureau, Ministry of Justice).
