Those who have had a decision to hospitalize them are hospitalized in designated inpatient care hospitals (designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare) where they receive specialized medical care. In addition, rehabilitation coordinators organize living arrangements for them after they are released. The number of cases involving living arrangements being made for inmates in 2009 (excluding cases received by transfer) was 210 and that pending as of the end of the same year 469 (Source: Annual Report of Statistics on Rehabilitation).
