Judicial assistance refers to cooperation between Japan and foreign countries in delivering documents or examining evidence in accordance with a request from a court. In 2009 there were no cases where requests were made by Japanese courts to foreign courts for judicial assistance, whereas 22 requests were made by foreign courts to Japanese courts to deliver documents and 10 requests to examine evidence (Source: The General Secretariat, Supreme Court).
