5 Legislation for juveniles

  With regard to legislation for juveniles, following the Act for Partial Amendment of the Juvenile Act (Act No.142 of 2000) of April 2001, reviews of the dispositions of juvenile cases were conducted, and further promotion of proper fact finding procedure, and enhanced consideration for victims, etc. were implemented. In addition, the revision of the Juvenile Act, etc. resulted in important reforms of system including lowering the age of juveniles who can be committed to juvenile training schools (revised by Act No. 68 of 2007) and the introduction of a system to allow victims, etc. to attend juvenile hearings, etc. (revised by Act No. 71 of 2008) (See Chapter 2, Part 4 and Chapter 2, Part 5).
