2 Measures against drug-related crime
Following the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961 and the Convention on Psychotropic Substances in 1971, the U.N. adopted the U.N. Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in 1988. Japan has concluded these conventions and developed corresponding domestic acts, and also strengthened its cooperation in international countermeasures against drug-related crime that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has played a leading role in tackling.
