The number of cases reported for counterfeiting of currency in 2005 decreased by 3,910 cases (50.9%) from the previous year. This is due to joint efforts by related organizations promoting various measures such as calling public attention, as well as the issuance of new Bank of Japan notes using highly advanced anticounterfeit technology.
