3 Robbery

  Cases reported for robbery reached 7,664 in 2003, the highest record since 1950, but decreased for the second consecutive year in 2005 (down by 1,307 (17.9%) from the previous year).
  The clearance rate for robbery recovered slightly from the previous year (up by 4.3 points).
  Table 1-1-2-3 shows the numbers of cases reported and cleared, and clearance rate for robbery targeting overnight supermarkets (robbery cases aimed at sales proceeds of convenience stores or supermarkets during their night opening hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., hereinafter the same) over the last 10 years.

  The number of cases reported for robbery targeting overnight supermarkets had increased significantly since 1998, but decreased by 119 (17.5%) from the previous year in 2005. The clearance rate had been considerably low at the range of 30% in recent years, but has recovered sharply to 60.1% in 2005.
