Section 3 Benefits Paid to Crime Victims

The reparation of damage to crime victims and their families is by nature a civil liability to be assumed by the perpetrators. However, the active involvement of the government may be required for the relief of crime victims, as many perpetrators do not have sufficient financial resources. Relief schemes for victims operated by the government include those prescribed in the Law concerning State Compensation for the Victims of Crime, etc. (Law No.36of1980)and the Automobile Liability Security Law(Law No.97of1955). Also, provisions in the Law concerning Prevention of Damage to Witness, etc. , (Law No.109of1958)serves de facto as an effective means of providing relief to crime victims.
