Section 6 Criminal Compensation

  When a defendant is acquitted after being detained or placed under custody pending trial, the defendant receives compensation in accordance with the length of detention or custody. Similarly, defendants who are acquitted by re-trial after incarceration following a guilty verdict receive compensation in accordance with the length of incarceration. These are stipulated by the Criminal Compensation Law.
  Table II-13 shows the state of criminal compensation under the Criminal Compensation Law in the 10 years until 1998.
