Section6 Rehabilitation Services for Juveniles

Environmental adjustment for inmates and parole has already been explained in Section4-6of this Chapter. Therefore, this Section deals with probationary supervision, focusing on juvenile probationers(those who are placed on probation by decisions of family courts)and juvenile parolees(those who are released on parole from juvenile training schools by decisions of Regional Parole Boards),who account for most of the probationary supervision for juveniles(see Part2,Chapter5,Section3-1 for periods, methods, and supervisors of probation/parole supervision).
Fig.4-4-6-1 shows the percent distribution of probationers and parolees newly placed under probation(including adults)in2004,by type.
Juvenile probationers and juvenile parolees accounted for nearly70%of the total, taking up a high rate among probationary supervision in Japan.
