Section 3 Larceny

   Table 1-4-1-2-[3] and Table 1-4-2-1-[2] show clearance rates, reported cases and crime rates for larceny in each country since 1988.
  As for larceny, the number of reported cases in the 4 countries other than Japan had taken a downward turn between 1992 and 1994. However, in Japan, it has been on an increasing trend since 1994.
  On the other hand, the clearance rate for larceny in Japan reached 55.7% in 1988, which was more than triple the rate of France and the U.S.A., and more than 1.5 times the rate of Germany and U.K. However, it fell sharply after that, and marked 19.1% in 2000, which was lower than that in Germany (31.2%).
