2 Changes in number of accommodated juveniles and how they entered facilities

(1) Changes in number of accommodated juveniles

  Fig.4-4-7-1 shows the number of juveniles accommodated in support facilities for development of self-sustaining capacity during the period between1980and2003.
  As of October1,2003,1,714juveniles were accommodated in support facilities for development of self-sustaining capacity,which was nearly one-third of the total number of juveniles accommodated in juvenile training schools.

(2) How juveniles are admitted to support facilities for development of self-sustaining capacity

  As of February1,2003,65.3%of accommodated juveniles were sent to support facilities for development of self-sustaining capacity from their own home by measures of child guidance centers,17.0%were referred to as protective measures through hearing at family courts,and13.2%were sent from children's homes by measures of child guidance centers(Source:Survey on Juveniles Accommodated in Children's Homes,etc.by the Ministry of Health,Labour and Welfare).
