1 Transnational fugitives from Japan

  Fig.2-7-2-1 shows the trend(the last10years)of suspects who committed non-traffic penal code offenses(excluding dangerous driving resulting in death or injury in road traffic accidents)or special law offenses(excluding violations of four statute traffic related laws and violations of other traffic laws)in Japan,and escaped abroad or have such possibility.

  Table2-7-2-3 shows the number of transnational fugitives as of December31,2004,by type of offense.
  When examined,countries and regions to which transnational fugitives seem to have escaped as of December31,2004,138suspects(including14Japanese)seem to have escaped to China with the largest share,followed by Brazil with47(no Japanese),the Philippines with36(including28Japanese),and South Korea with34(including7Japanese)(Source:The Criminal Investigation Bureau,National Police Agency).
