As of December31,2004,1,295probationers were classified as mental disorder(up by24.8%from December31,2003),accounting for2.4%of overall probationers(excluding short-term probationers)(Source:The Rehabilitation Bureau,Ministry of Justice).Probation offices provide them with appropriate treatment considering their mental conditions,by advising them to receive proper medical care or welfare measures according to need and by cooperating with medical/welfare organizations and their families.
