2 Disposition by courts

  Fig.2-6-1-3 shows the percent distribution of the term of imprisonment for unsafe driving resulting in death or injury,professional negligence(including professional negligence in cases other than in traffic accidents;hereinafter the same in this Section),and violations of road traffic related laws,in the court of first instance in2004.
  The percentage of unsuspended imprisonment with or without labor was34.1%for unsafe driving resulting in death or injury,12.6%for professional negligence,and26.2%for violations of road traffic related laws.Among110persons who were not granted suspension of execution of sentence for unsafe driving resulting in death or injury,persons imprisoned for more than five years were18(16.4%),and one was sentenced to more than ten years imprisonment.
  In2004,for professional negligence,242persons were sentenced to fines in the court of first instance and88,457to fines in summary trial procedure.For violations of road traffic related laws,589persons were sentenced to fines in the court of first instance and611,929to fines in summary trial procedure(Source:Annual Report of Judicial Statistics).
