2 Robbery Cases reported for robbery have increased remarkably in recent years,reaching7,664in2003,which was the highest record since1950.However,it decreased by369(4.8%)from the previous year to7,295in2004.
The clearance rate for robbery was50.3%,remaining at the same level of the previous year. Table1-1-2-5 shows the numbers of cases reported and cleared,and clearance rate for robbery targeting cash transit vehicles, robbery targeting financial institutions,and robbery targeting overnight convenience stores and supermarkets(cases aimed at sales proceeds of convenience stores or supermarkets during their night opening hours from10:00p.m.to7:00a.m.,hereinafter the same)over the last10years. The number of cases reported for robberies targeting overnight supermarkets,etc.has been on a significant upward trend.It was680,accounting for nearly10%of all reported robberies in2004,which was the second highest the last10years.The clearance rate was36.3%in2004,which was much lower than that for overall robbery(50.3%),and even lower than that for non-traffic penal code offenses excluding larceny(37.8%).Prevention and clearance of robberies targeting overnight supermarkets is one of the major issues.
