  As described above, elderly inmates have many problems such as uncertainty in their life after release in addition to health problems. Various arrangements for treating elderly inmates have been made by respective penal institutions. In order to have elderly inmates reintegrate themselves into society smoothly, it will become more and more important in the future to have the cooperation of not only halfway houses but also medical institutions and social welfare institutions, etc.
