2 Benefits allowance system for recovery from damage

The Act for Partial Amendment to the Anti-organized Crimes Act (Act No. 86 of 2006) and the Act on Recovery Payment to be Paid from Assets Generated from Crime (Act No. 87 of 2006) were enforced on December 1, 2006. These acts enable any property, etc. that an offender acquired from the crime victim concerned through their property offense, etc. (assets generated from crime) to be confiscated/collected in specified cases, and the assets generated from crime are then used to enable benefits for recovery from damage to the crime victims, etc. to be paid. On July 25, 2008, the decision to commence payment of the benefits to victims of the so-called Goryokai loan sharking case was made for the first time in accordance with these acts.
