3 Financial offenses

  Fig. 1-3-2-6 shows the number of persons newly received by public prosecutors offices for violations of the Investment Act and Money Lending Business Act (Act No.32 of 1983: the title of the act was “Loan Business Control Act” prior to December 19, 2007) over the last 10 years.
  Violations of the Investment Act increased by 243 cases (30.5%) and violations of the Money Lending Business Act increased by 101 cases (26.0%) from the previous year in 2007.

  Table 1-3-2-7 shows the number of persons prosecuted or not prosecuted by public prosecutors over the last five years for violations of the Investment Act and Money Lending Business Act.
  In 2007, 642 persons prosecuted were indicted and 228were put on summary trial procedures for Investment Act violations, and 221 prosecuted were indicted and 140 were put on summary trial procedures for Money Lending Business Act violations (Source: Annual Report of Statistics on Prosecution).
