2 Revocation of suspension of execution of sentence

Table 7-2-2-2 shows the number of persons who had their suspension of execution of sentence revoked over the last 5 years by reason for revocation.
Among 7,650 persons whose suspension of execution of sentence was revoked in 2006, 93.4% or 7,142 persons had their suspension of execution of sentence revoked due to a repeat offense with a sentence severer than imprisonment.
Since the persons granted suspension of execution of sentence and the persons whose suspension of execution of sentence was revoked are of two different groups, it is not possible to calculate the revocation rate in a strict sense. However, comparing the percentage of the latter to the former enables a rough trend to be observed in the revocation of suspension of execution of sentence of that year.
In 2006 the ratio of persons whose suspension of execution of sentence was revoked due to a repeat offense to persons granted suspension of execution of sentence was 14.1%. Examining the ratio by type of offense for which the suspension of execution of sentence had been granted (limiting the type of offense to those with more than one hundred persons) reveals that the ratio is highest for Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act violations (57.1%), followed in order by theft (25.4%) and Stimulants Control Act violations (24.0%) (Source: Annual Report of Statistics on Prosecution).
