Section 4  Pre-delinquents

  Fig. 4-1-4-1 shows the number of juveniles finally disposed by family courts for pre-delinquency, by type of pre-delinquency and the female rate in pre-delinquents since 1969 (see Appendix 4-7).
  The number of juveniles finally disposed by family courts for pre-delinquency was over 3,000 in early 1980s, but then it decreased, and the number has generally been less than 1,000 since 1994.
  By type of pre-delinquency, running away from home has continuously accounted for the largest share, and was 18.3% in 2006.
  The female rate has generally been in the range of 50 to 59% since 1997, and in 2006, it was 54.6% (down by 7.3 points from the previous year).
