3 Conclusion

The Saiban-in system is a system where Saiban-ins selected from local residents shall directly participate in trials. In actually implementing this system, considerable burden is to be imposed on the general public. Therefore, it is indispensable to secure the general public's full understanding of and cooperation in Saiban-in trials.
As described in this Section, it is important to appropriately arrange an environment to make the general public's participation as a Saiban-in easier to ensure their understanding and cooperation. All persons who are involved in the operation of criminal justice, even slightly, need to make every effort to arrange a favorable environment to have Saiban-in trials function effectively.
