1 Disposition by public prosecutors office and courts

  Table 3-4-2-1 shows the number of suspects who were not prosecuted by public prosecutors on the grounds of insanity or diminished capacity, the number of persons who were found not-guilty on the grounds of insanity or given a mitigated sentence on the grounds of diminished capacity in the court of first instance, and dispositions in 2005 by type of offense and type of mental disorders.
  By type of offense, injury was the most common among those who were not prosecuted on the grounds of insanity or diminished capacity in 2005, and by type of mental disorder, schizophrenia was the most common (See Appendix 3-7 for persons who were not prosecuted in 2005 on the grounds of insanity or diminished capacity, by type of offense and by type of mental disorder).
