Table 2-3-3-2 shows the number of defendants sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life in the ordinary first instance over the last10years,by type of offense.Life imprisonments have increased since1998,an increase of one person from the previous year to99in2003.The percentage of life imprisonment was2.0%for homicide and8.3%for robbery resulting in death/injury and rape on the occasion of robbery.For other offenses than homicide and robbery,three were sentenced for arson and one for Narcotics Provision Law violations(Source:Annual Report of Judicial Statistics).
