Table 1-2-3-3 shows the number of public officials newly received and finally disposed by public prosecutors for graft in2003.Among105persons for whom formal trials were requested in2003,officials of local governments had the largest share with53persons(50.5%),followed by quasi public officials with25persons(23.8%),and members of assemblies of local governments with15persons(14.3%).

  Table 1-2-3-4 shows the term of imprisonment with labor sentenced in the ordinary first instance for graft and bribery in the last five years.Among139persons who were sentenced to imprisonment with labor in2003,124were granted suspension of execution of sentence.
