Section 2 Judgments

1 Defendants finally judged by trial

   Table 2-3-2-1 shows the results of trials for offenders whose judgments became final over the last 10 years.
  The number of defendants whose judgments became final in 2002 decreased by 42,764 (4.4%) from the previous year to 924,374. Among them, 3 defendants were sentenced to death, while 82 defendants were sentenced to imprisonment with labor for life that shows a continuing increase in sentences of imprisonment with labor for life since 1998. The number of defendants who were found not guilty was 73, accounting for 0.008% of the total.
